The Evo is heavier, slower, but has enough electronic doo-dads to get it around a course faster if you let the computer drive. Thanks, I'll take the STI.

Subaru should add on the electronic doo-dads and dominate. Though I believe it should be a button that you can turn on and off so you can have fun.

All Suabru needs to do for their next iteration should be the big red easy button and it should dominate over all of them

this is also an unfair comparison for both cars being that the STi is a JDM spec car.

The article and the pics is showing a USDM STI. Where did you see a JDM spec car in the article?

Give the STi a RSB and diff. bushings, and I'd bet it would win.

The Evo is fugly. Not a big fan of the red STi either, though.

Hahaha...sounds a little sour in here...it's just a silly magazine test.

"...though it could have beat the GSR had our test vehicle not been plagued by a high-rpm hesitation. Mitsubishi claims to have already solved this problem and finalized the ECU software that has delayed the release of this MR. Look for a full test shortly."

It'd be much, much sadder to learn that Mitsubishi could handle fixing hesitation issues and Subaru couldn't.

Get some camber on that STi...probably help it with its understeering problem. Anyone know what the camber is set on the 08's from the factory.

Then we would hear people piss and moan endlessly about how they would rather not drive a car that did all the driving for you. I guarantee it, there is no pleasing everyone. Hell, even with the EVO, enthusiasts praise the razor sharp reflexes and handling, yet there are some people out there that felt the car was too nervous or rough for daily driving. You can already open the DCCD, turn traction control off, and sharpen the throttle response for track duty on the STI. The question is, what were the settings they used for this test.

The fact that they were bothered by understeer shouldn't be surprising to any of us that have been paying attention to Mitsu's AYC system. Take ANY car back to back with an EVO (even without AYC), barring a lotus elise or something of that nature, and it will feel like an understeering pig. The Impreza's predominant steering characteristic under hard driving has always been a touch of understeer and in some cases like the 04 sti, lots of understeer. We all know that it doesn't take much to reign it in and make it more neutral. For me, the bottom line is Mitsu doesn't make a hatchback to compete with the STI and I typically like Subaru build quality more. This makes me more inclined to put my money on the Subaru, I need the extra utility of the hatch and have been gagging for an STI hatch since I took my first snowboarding trip in my 05.
