In Japan it's usually the STi that prevails in the head-to-head comparisons because of all the different JDM variants...Spec C RA-R, S202, S203, S204, 22B, etc. In the UK and US the Evo usually prevails.

BTW...this is not the video that was advertised. At about 58 minutes there is a race but there is no 2008 STI to be found. Rather they put a pair of Evo X models against a G37 coupe, 2007 STI and an Evo IX. I'm still waiting to see how the 2008 STI stacks up to a CT9A Evo.

There's an STI faster then the FQ 400 VIII? (400hp evo loaded with a bunch of other goodies)

Which STI is this? That evo is only available in Europe and Japan.

Worldwide, if you're just comparing the Evo and STi, I'm not sure there is anything quicker than an VIII FQ400. I do know that the FQ series of Evos are only available in the UK though.

Well, since they only made 100, it seems fair to exclude the FQ400. Besides, $86K is a lot to pay for 405 horsepower.

Very true when you can get that from regular IX's for around $3000 on stock turbos.

I think the reason they are so expensive is because only 100 were made like you said.

I just realized the 06 STI started in the number 1 position and thats the reason it beat the IX.

More laps and the IX would've passed the 06 STI I'm sure.

I was confused there for a while. Theres another BM around where they put an Evo IX MR, the GSR Evo X, the MR Evo X, 350Z and an 07 STI on a track and race them.

IX was dead last, followed by the STI. Both cars easily took all the other cars on the track but at the end the Evo IX MR had a pretty huge gap over the 07 STI.

Litchfield Type25RA maybe. But again very few made and a little pricey. About 46-48k if I remember correctly and also a UK only toy.

So just to confirm for anybody downloading the torrent, there is no 2008 STI in the race at the end. However they do perform a road test at the beginning of the episode on a 2008 JDM STI. Just wanted to clarify for anybody else curious to see how the 2008 STI would perform against an Evo IX. You'll have to wait.

Be careful, that's a slippery slope. There have been some extremely limited production ultra high performance STi models released in other markets too.

the FQ evo's are not from mitsubishi. they are aftermarket cars built by a british tuning company and sold as F(uckin) Q(uick) models. the 400 uses a motec for instance.

they are NOT factory cars.

Im suprised no one mentioned the subaru type ra-r. Might not be as quick on a straight but I think it would beat the fq400 on a track.

Yeah, in Japan, the STI spec-C, RAR etc... trumps the EVO. Like other's have mentioned, it's only in America, EU, and Austrailia (maybe) that the STI gets ****ted on. Every new model of both cars that are pited against each other on Top Gear, and ends up with the EVO having the faster track time; I cringe that they don't use the Spec-c.
