What's interesting is that they could never have pulled that video off with the old car. Period. Even still, I think a Porsche or BMW would have suited that video better. It would have been better if they had him drive for his quickie with the girl and then BAM next scene shows him ripping up some gravel back roads. More action, less escort escapades...

Still, not a bad video though.

I agree, its a really soft video for a car that is supposed to be rugged. I guess thats the image subby wants now though. Its def more the video I wouldve thought they would use with an M3. I have mixed feelings about subby marketing the car into the upper class world. While I do miss leather and sunroof on my 05, I really appreciated it for its rawness all the same. Im sure thats how the E30 folks felt!!!!!

OK, I was going to write a long commentary about this video, but I'd rather just summarize as follows: I fell asleep while watching this video.

Jeez man, it even ends on a scene where the screen pans towards the moon, all romantic and everytihing.

The STI looks incredibly boring to drive in that video. Once he downshifted from 4th to 3rd and the car barely moved.

But then again, reviews have stated time and again that the new STI is not much softer than the orignal and preserves much of the performance. Good.

So in the end, this advertisement is targeting an older generation, hence the emphasis placed on things like quiet, refined, smooth, and wife hauler. That last one was funny since apparnetly women are supposed to like the car more, or are at least content with the ride enough to give the driver what looked like a kiss.

They need to make a Limited edition of the 2008 STI or 2009, only this time, take it the exact opposite way and make Limited = hard core.

That was a pretty cool video, but it looks like they took 5 minutes of stock footage and used ALL of it... I agree the older models wouldn't be able to pull it off very well, the new 08 just seems to have more class. You can definitely tell they're trying to appeal to the more "mature" audience...

Yeah, I remember buying my '05 and they had a video of the Sti in the showroom playing. What a difference with that one. They had my '05 ripping up gravel, snow, track, etc. Now they show the '08 going out to dinner in a suit and tie. lol

What you guys dont realize is this car costs about $70K in Israel so the targeting is sopt on for that market. I doubt SOA would ever run such an ad.

By the way, did you guys notice the LHD recaros? Hmm
