At least where I live, the Evo holds value very well, and right now it looks like it's holding it better than the STI. That probably has a lot to do with the new X, however, so it may not be true a few years down the road.

What issues are there with the new X? I've heard rumors about the SST breaking under light mods, but nothing concrete about that or anything else.

how come they also get the twin scroll turbo over there? isn't the twinscroll for jdm 2 liter engines only and the rest of the world gets the vf 48 single scroll?

Off the top of my head, the problems which have been reported by a number of owners are:

1. Surging and stalling
2. Clutch is prone to slipping & stinking
3. Hard starts when engine is warm
4. Balky transmissions that are hard to shift into certain gears, especially when cold
5. Seats that are already coming apart

There's also the gas pedal, but that was just one car and while comical, it's probably a fluke. If you pay attention to the threads in the Evo X forum over on EvolutionM.net, you'll see discussion of the various problems.

It appears Mitsubishi is slowly working on these issues. I saw some discussion of the throttle not resetting properly if you turn the key on and back off again without starting the car, which might explain some of the other behavior problems people have experienced. I think there is a fix out for that or will be soon. There's a reflash I hear about, not sure how much of the above problems it attempts to address.

It's too early to say anything about the SST, because no MR's have been sold yet. Everyone says May, now, but the date has already slipped several times, so I'd not be entirely surprised to see Mitsubishi cancel the '08 MR and release it as an '09.

Its easy to see who theyre obviously biased to. As seen by the "but if" comments often that bloggers cling to.

I love seeing reviews of car rags that test cars performance and declare winners after having sat in the seat for a few hours. Whatever
