Default 2008 USDM STI - Motor Trend w/ Tech Data

here ya go ..i don't think it's a double post

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI - First Test - Motor Trend

" At the dragstrip that equates to 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.4 at 100.5 mph, numbers that are significantly quicker than those of the Evo X GSR (5.4, 14.0 at 96.9), but not as speedy as the aforementioned 2006 STI (4.5, 13.0 at 103.5). Chalk it up to overall gearing that's taller in every gear (by about 20 percent in third and fourth) and to a weight gain of 41 pounds, courtesy of such additional safety measures as curtain airbags."

Looks like it comes with the JDM STI intercooler just without the STi lettering on. I'm seriously considering trading my 07 for it.

20% taller gears in 3rd and 4th...interesting.

Still not a fan though.

0-60 4.8 Quarter Mile 13.4

....something doesnt smell right....would like to see more tests...
^^^^^ >"In general"- it"s about 3 tenths slower all around than priveous...05-06-07.....Models...

Looks like I will be "KEEPING my 07"....{until next year}...Maybe Subaru will give it more Zip then.... Still, very good write-up..

I remember reading that the 06-07 STi 0-60 times were in the low 5 second range. I don't think 4.5 seconds was a realistic number that many magazine reviews could not duplicate. The Evo IX was in the 4.5 range and it always beat the STi in 0-60 times and handeling.

I remember reading the opposite STi -4.5> 4.6 -0-60.....interesting .."The bigger engine" in the STi provided more "torque" for better 0-60"s over the Evo.....I guess it depends on magazine and driver and all the other ~(million) little factors involved for the test.......LOL!....

just because it has slower 0-60 and quarter doesn't mean ****.
do some suspension, rotated turbo and it'll probably blow our current gen outta the way.

Having a great 0-60 time is not everything. I would rather have a car that handles better then just go fast in a straight line. I like a car that has good power when you are rolling, much better on the track. It always sucks to get passed by the corvettes out there.

"Or Visa-Verse"......I"m thinking "stock to stock" ( 08 vs 04-07 ) Subaru should have done a little better with Performance. One can build- ( Modify)any car to perform... I still like the 08 and still might buy one....but in no rush any more.

Yes ...everyone loves different Traits in performance cars...some like "handling"....some like go-Power.....{ performance } some like both.....

"""I like a car that has good power when you are rolling, much better on the track. It always sucks to get passed by the corvettes out there""""

This is why I was hoping for more STOCK performance from the 08 with-out having to spend- $$$- and modify it.

Do you take your car to the track? What tracks have you been to? I am sure with a set of track tires. Toyo RA1, Nitto NTO1(I had these on my Z and they are great) or Hoosiers it would be a great improvement. I am sure it will need sway bars to help correct the understeer. I remember my 2002 WRX would understeer really bad. Hope the new STi is a little better. I always like to get my cars to handle better and stop faster 1st before I even think about doing power modifications.
