I saw an '08 the Other Day

First off, I like hatches and really was looking forward to the new STi. I drove up to my local Subie dealership to pick up some parts on 11/28 and lo and behold, there was an '08 STi sitting there!

I was not impressed by the exterior at all. The edgy, distinctive STi style is gone. There is nothing about this car that sets it apart from every other econo-box hatch. The "side marker lights" that I was so impressed the USDM market finally got are actually little chrome strips of no functional use. Couple this bland styling and stamped steal suspension bits and you do not have an STi anymore, IMHO.

The interior is pretty nice, however. Every interior shortcoming of all previous years is gone and replaced with amazing upgrades! Great job on the inside, Subaru!

I will not be getting a new STi and love my '05 even more now!

I am very interested in the response and future exposure to this platform.

why would you want the side markers on the quarter panel when you have the signal lights integral with the side mirrors?

Read the latest edmunds inside line and you'll see the 08>07 in your case, the 05

I disagree with your argument about the bland styling on the 08. The fender flares on the previous models have never been this aggressive and wider--I believe it's 1.3" wider than the out going.

I saw a black 08 WRX hatchback this past weekend. It looked better than what I've seen in the pictures.

I saw the '08 in Boston this weekend and agree with the OP completely. Fell in love with the '06 all over again!

We have an 08 WRX at our dealership here in Bakersfield, CA. They keep trying to get me to trade in my 05. They're fools

i saw an 08 regular Impreza on the hwy here in Maine..
perhaps it was because it was at night time... but.. it looked pretty...bad..
the LED lights were sweet lookin though..

hopefully the widebody sti in person will change my current perspective.
the performance #s looked very promising.
