If they are getting upgraded turbos every year, I am all for replacing it as often as they want to. Who knows, maybe they put a little larger turbo in with a little larger torque range; could be one of the many explanations to the increased horsepower without any real changes to torque output. That would work out even better for all the people planning stage 2's!

Dont mind me, I am just being optimistic.

On top of that, the 04 $31k price tag with inflation from 03->07 is now $35.2k, so in perspective we are back where we started with the original STI and have a lot more goodies in the car.

And to all the people complaining about a $40k STI, are you really going to get it with the Navi and the BBSs? Or are you going to get aftermarket wheels and sell the BBSs anyway? Are you complaining about not having BBSs, or are you complaining that you arent going to get as much money for your stock wheels on NASIOC as you did before? In reality, if you are complaining about $40k and the 08 as being "soft" in the same sentence, you are contradicting yourself because you would be buying the 35k one anyway.

All in all... there is only one prescription to make everyone happy... more cowbell...
People on the internet will ***** no matter what. With the dollar falling off like it has (which sucks donkey dick), we are lucky the prices aren't more expensive than they already are. $40k isn't the price, that is the price if you are a dumbass and pay full markup on it.

I just hope it is a larger turbo and everyone will want to upgrade it so I can pick one up cheap to replace my 43.

One thing I thought was interesting is that it doesnt have limited slip diffs anymore, instead it uses the VDC system to apply brake pressure to individual wheels to act like limited slip. Between that and the new suspention set up, i think this is a whole new STi.

The new STi does still have limited slip diffs

Helical-type limited-slip front differential and TORSEN limited-slip rear differential

Subaru Media Center

Then go to the impreza section and then look at the standard equipment PDF file.

Aren't helical and torsen limited slip diffs the same thing. I wonder why they keep talking about them like they're different?

Im not hating on it. To tell you the truth, I DID hate the way it looked when they were just introducing the Impreza I, And the WRX. The new STi I kinda growing on me... a little and... slowly. Im not inventing stuff, I was curious. It has the Vehicle Stability Control (something no US STi ever had) and That was what people were telling me.

all cars will have to come with some sort of traction/dynamics control in a few years. Subaru is just thinking long term. NOWHERE have they stated that Subaru ditched the limited slip diffs, that's only for the WRX.

So the WRX is losing the limited slip rear diff? What about the DCCD system?

Apparently the DCCD is newly revised as well. I wonder what they did differently with this, or maybe they just made it able to react faster.

you know, subaru.com has a lot of the info on the upcoming STI including a spec sheet. There are also articles and reviews all over that discuss and describe the new features. Also, as much as some of you folks disdain visiting nasioc, nearly all of your questions have been covered over there and they provide useful links to pages like this:
