Thanks.

In all fairness to the people that are concerned about price, the base model doesn't come with the BBS or NAVI. It still comes with 18x8.5 wheels but they are cast aluminum and bring the weight of the car up to 3395lbs, iirc.

Still, only $1K more is a bargain, whether you like the looks or not.

I'm just PRAYING that the Canadian model gets heated seats/mirrors; it looks like the US version doesn't get heated seats or mirrors. I definitely agree that this is a big oversight for those of us in colder climates (US or Canada.) Still, the car is definitely an improvement.

isn't the japanese got an 8K redline? did the 0.5L increment equate to going down to a 6.7?

I'll pass on a 40k STI. I sure some dealers will make them up even more.

Signed,

I couldn't agree more. More weight, no bbs's, only a hatch back, a hefty price increase, no wing, I fail to see what there is to get excited about. There is something about a hatchback(wagon) that detracts from the edginess of the old car. It may be more "practical", but that's the last word I would like to see our cars described as. I have heard that there might be a sedan coming, but I forgot where I read that. I know hatches are more popular in Europe. Maybe that had something to do with the styling change.
I hate to say it, but the new EVO looks better. I'd have to pass on the 08, with no regrets. Nice color though.

Some of you guys are killing me here... The 04s MSRP was ~$31k, the 06/07s was ~34.5k... last time I checked $1k < $3.5k price increase. Also, we are getting a hell of a lot more upgrades on/in the car all around in this switch compared to the 04/05 -> 06/07 switch. On top of that, the 04 $31k price tag with inflation from 03->07 is now $35.2k, so in perspective we are back where we started with the original STI and have a lot more goodies in the car.

And to all the people complaining about a $40k STI, are you really going to get it with the Navi and the BBSs? Or are you going to get aftermarket wheels and sell the BBSs anyway? Are you complaining about not having BBSs, or are you complaining that you arent going to get as much money for your stock wheels on NASIOC as you did before? In reality, if you are complaining about $40k and the 08 as being "soft" in the same sentence, you are contradicting yourself because you would be buying the 35k one anyway.

All in all... there is only one prescription to make everyone happy... more cowbell...

I don't understand how some of you people say there are no changes, or well not enough to the point itshould effect price the way it did. For what seems like alot of us we like the new look.

For one the rear supensipn is a better design so right there all the 07 an earlier guys are just pulling no performance gains outta no where. Dual AVCS is going to affect out put of the motor greatly. Ya maybe the peak gains arent that big, but its just fact that over all power is going to be more linear. Not to mention that the adjusted dccd SI drive larger rotors cooling ducts larger interior space (vs sedan) and then theres the body.

The 07 and before the bodies were almost identical t the wrx. My 04 I wanted to do a wide body but the kit alone was 3k. He new STi comes wide body 20mm more tire factory.

I really think the crap about it being ugly every chance yu get is childish. Sme it might even be jealousy.

Its a better car than the 07 period. I think its nice now that the STi is easy to tell apart from the wrx. The evo has always had that look and was easy to tell from lesser lancers and not just by the huge wing.

But that it one thing give me the WRC s car wing

So does anyone know what the turbo is? I'm guessing they stuck with the 43. Why would they change it from the 07? That would be like 3 different turbos in 3 years.
