Yeah the more i read about the later models with hte helical front diff, i wondered how much different it would feel. I know my STi needed to be st up a little earlier for the corner to get a powerful exit line, where the Evo could dump in a little quicker and make better mid-corner corrections.

Same here. They definitely improved the front end for 05.
