Those seats are really comfortable. Not race comfortable but I think they are targeting a new market. This car will handle like an Evo which requires less driver input. Evos handle better than Sti's. You have to be a better driver to drive an Sti over an Evo stock for stock. This is a new challenge. Subaru will take customer input for about 6 months and then produce a next gen model that will last for 2-3 years. Get your licks in now...

I am starting to warm up to it a little bit but does anyone else think that $40K for an STi is pushing it a little bit?

The no recaros is definately a deal breaker. I honestly hate my current seats so much that I decided if I got another STI it would have much better seats. If the new STI comes with crappy seats then next time I get a car it will probably be an Evo.

Yes, I agree. Taking an Impreza and selling it for $40K is pushing the limits a bit. Nicer drivetrain or not, at heart it's still an Impreza and $40K is in most cases a higher class of car.

I'm curious if the new chassis continues to maintain seat compatibility with the previous generation. If so, then I could take the stock '08 seats and put them in my '06, while taking my Recaros with me to the new ride. Not that I'm tempted to buy an '08 at this point, but it would be nice to know. . .

This is one of the reasons I held off for the newer car instead of getting raped on a LTD. (Dealers wanted MSRP or MSRP + for the last of the LTD's). Can anyone tell us if they are just nicer WRX seats (same design, etc)??

i think everyone overlooks this 40k thing.
the car starts at 34 which is pretty much the same damn thing we have now...07 starts at 33 something.
the point is 08 base options vs. 07 base options is the same thing, which makes no difference. if all the options for the 08 were available for the 07, it'd be what 39k?
the new options is what boosts the price, get over it...it's adding a little more comfort to the car which SOME people like. and another thing, just cause it doesn't come with bbs doesn't mean to cry about it. MOST of us change our wheels anyway.
the new bbs do look nice and i do believe they should have come on it, but like i said before....MOST of us change our wheels regardless...now you have a real reason to get NICER rims.

whine whine whine.

right on, the new "starting price" is nothing to ***** about...
and guess what neither is the 39k sti because that has options that weren't even available on the current ones.

and aren't MOST of us going to be getting the BASE sti anyway?
and then there will be few who like nav etc and will be happy their beloved subaru sti has the capabilities!

It's hard to decide who is more annoying -- the haters, or the humpers . It's just a car, simmer down.

Some of those would be valuable to me. Some of those should have been standard years ago. And I never said it was a bad deal, I merely stated what the prices actually were, since that information was not being communicated accurately.
