Default Stopped by the dealership and got more info on the 08 STI

Well, according to the Sherman Oaks Subaru dealership, or one of their sales reps, they have been told that the STI is expected to come out with 320 hp and that it could be available with a sunroof, leather, and nav for just under or around $40k.

Its first release in the US will take place at the LA Auto Show before they begin rolling them out to dealerships. This particular guy said that they don't expect to receive the STI until Feb.

Some of this info you probably already knew, but I thought I would share any way.

Well, atleast my estimate was close. I was expecting the loaded STI to be $39-40k and available in February - March. I may be ordering a dark grey one soon...

Subaru is pricing itself out. Way too high. I would rather consider the G37, 335i and/or bite the bullet entirely and get the G.O.A.T, the M3.

The last two years the LA Auto has been in November. It use to be in January. I would think dealers would start getting them earlier than February.

I agree, at the 40K price point the STI starts to have serious competition. If Subaru wants to play in that league, they will have to do something about build quality. My '06 is turning into a real rattletrap already and it only has 37K miles .

Hey, the STI's here in Canada have been about $50,000 since they came out! So no wonder every canadian buy's their STI's in the US!

Im glad to see others had the same reaction as me when I heard almost 40k for an STi. that pricepoint like others have said, may bit a little out of its own league. Im not saying its not a great, fun, quality car, but boy thats luxury fast territory(used) Yeah many subie owners dont like the 335i and what not, but I know a few that would rather have one(Including myself) Or wait a bit for the 135i which will be the SAME price if not cheaper then the new STi and have all the power in a smaller body then the 335. Just my .002 cents

40k?? WTF is Subaru thinking. Given that most Subarus can be had at invoice, I bet you can get it for 36~37k after a few months of its release, but still.... that is too much and many will opt for other more luxrious options. They will lose a lot of sales because of this pricing.
