I paid $45,000 taxes in and everythig for my new 2006 here in Canada...

So please, dont tell me 40k is too much you bunch of whiny cheap american bastards. Infact, i bought this car over a 04 M3, because thats what I was planning to get, but AWD, All season + easily 370hp+ turbo + 4 doors + it looks like a bastard shark about to it EAT YA! sounded better ;P

I dont need to drive a BMW to add an extension to my penis.. i dont care for luxury either right now..plus theres about 1000 lexus's in chinatown, the STi is a true enthusiast car.

40K is for a fully loaded sti with sunroof, nav, sat radio, leather interior. You should be asking how much the base STI will cost. I am guessing in the 34-35k region, but that is a guess and total speculation.

I think it's funny that all of you guys are freaking out about $40k. The current STI MSRP is 33k, the new one will probably be 35k. If you want it loaded with all the options, which aren't available for the current STI, yes, it could be close to 40k. You act like the car suddenly costs 10 grand more than it used to...

If you could buy a current model STI with navigation, recaro seats, 18" wheels, keyless entry, etc, it would cost 37-38k...so why is everyone crying about it? 5 grand for all of those options is a VERY fair price. If you don't want to spend $40k on an STI, buy it without all the goodies (like the current model). You could blow 15+ grand on options on the cheaper model BMW's or Audi's, does that mean you should automatically assume the MSRP for them is 15 grand higher than what it really is?

As for the "I'd rather buy a 335i, G37, etc" comments, go for it. However, I don't know how you can honestly compare a 335i to an STI. I guess you could compare an M3 or an S4 to an STI, but even then, they're not up to snuff on a performance level and you'd have to buy them used for 5-10k more than a loaded, brand-new STI costs.

If you're really in the market to buy a 335i, G37, M3, etc, why are you even looking at an STI, regardless of price? They're totally different kinds of vehicles. I guess we should start comparing a Lotus Exige S to a luxury SUV because they're in a similar price range...

Whatever, I guess I just don't understand people.

I've been waiting for an STI hatch for 5 years. In that time, I've owned 2 WRX's and 2 STI's. I even built a race car out of one of them...

Not everyone thinks the 5 door is ugly, and some people -- believe it or not -- vastly prefer it to the sedan. I know...it's amazing, right? What idiots...

Well I'm one of those idiots, and I'll gladly pay 39-40k for an STI with all those options. If the last STI I bought had navigation, recaro's, 18" wheels, and keyless entry you better believe I would have payed 4-5k more for it too when I bought it.

Different strokes for different folks...

And if by Subaru becoming a "friggen joke" you mean Subaru increasing their sales numbers and mass-market appeal, along with making extra cash from additional options (like every other car company) I guess you're right. What a joke indeed.

I myself don't care for nav...$2,000 0ption? On the new 08 STi. If it performs stock like some say it will 0-60 4.5 and 12.7 Qt......I am getting one....$35-$37 sticker sounds more realistic when they finally come out.

Weeeeeeellllllllllllllllll Excuuuuuussssseeeeee meeeeee!

I'm just highly dissapointed in the 5 door. To the point that eventually when I decide to buy my next car, An STi wont be included in that option. I wish they made an STi that was a sedan 2 door, like the other 85% of the forum. Oh well maybe my words were to harsh, but i guess well see if they sell come here in Feb.

Well *****ing about it won't help. Go outside and yell as loud as you can about it and in February it'll still be a hatch.

I like hatches so it doesn't bother me one bit and I'll buy one when I don't have to pay MSRP. I think it's funny to listen to all the *****ing though because everyone is crying like a lil girl who just got her sucker stolen and no drive reports are even here. When you *****, keep in mind that it's supposed to be lighter and faster

My guess is that it'll cost around 38k fully loaded. We have to wait until official specs are out. But I am willing to bet that both acceleration and handling have been improved. If indeed it can run 0-60 in the low 4 second range and hit the 1/4 in the high 12s then it is definitely worth the money.

I'm still waiting to see pics of the brakes

Well, a 335Xi, iirc, is an AWD model and I'm sure you're aware of the insane tuning software available for these models. People are getting insane numbers. So, as far as this community is concerned, cross-shopping is relative. I mean, I came from a G35 to the STI and had a deposit on the R32 before I got my Infiniti.

That 's very true, but only for magazine articles. These cars are typically cross-shopped by our demographics. Money is most likely the only determining factor for most people. I don't think too many young men really care about the class in which these cars actually are marketed. We want something HOT!

everyone overlooks the hatch form too much.
you bought the sti because of the car it is, most of us didn't care about its looks.
then some were like omg i hate my hood scoop and wing, let me transform the car into something it's not.

i don't like hatches, but i'm still going to get the new sti for the fact i love subarus and love the sti as a whole...i want it because it's got what fits my needs despite it doesn't look like a ferrari.
our current sti looks uglier than that one...that's STOCK form also, wait until there are parts for it and it looks menacing + spanks the **** out of your current sti.
