Default Official JDM Spec 2008 STI details

Okay - my dealer called me in today and showed me the internal sales prep manual for the new STI - remember this is JDM spec.

Engine base is the legacy 2 liter in Japan - not the old STI engine.

308 bhp
43.0 kg torque
1450 kg (17 inch model)

This car is 4cm wider than the S-GT now out.

DCCD automatic mode (no manual like now)
VDC
SI-Drive - like the Legacy

Colors - same as now plus Midnight Pearl Blue

17 inch wheel model will be base and stripped - kinda like a Spec C - for example min. options, no HID lights, etc.

18 inch wheel model will be loaded with 2 wheel options - 18 inch BBS like current 17 inch ones and a new 18 inch STI wheel that is 5 spoke as in the darkened released pick in another post (each spoke is 1 arm - not split)

No RECARO seats - they are a new design though with leather sides and are suppose to be way cooler to sit in.

Again -the above is official dealer JDM spec.

All this has been posted in the other thread(s). You also forgot the new Lightning Red color and Dark Gray. Urban Gray is out and so is Satin White which is replaced by Pure white (same as Aspen white)

No HIDs? I was not expecting recaro/sparco seats. Didn't want to get my hopes up.

I still want one though. Thanks for the update.

HIDīs are standard in Europe and US, optional in Japan, however a stripped-down version is likely to be available at least in Japan. Like he says, a Spec-C of some sort. Less creature comfort, more rough.

One thing that´s a good thing about the SI-Drive is that you can´t drive the car in Sport Sharp when it´s cold. At least not in my Legacy. When the blue light is on in the dash (cold) then I can´t put it in Sport Sharp. This is a good thing, might prevent people that are unaware of the fact that you don´t push the car until it reaches the right temperature.

However, I´m not so sure why the STi needs the SI-Drive. Most people that own cars like the STi or Evo know that cars need to reach the right temperature and most owners like these cars for the power and handling. Why would anyone drive the STi in "intelligent" for example? So as I said, it´s a good thing to prevent full output when it´s cold, but that kind of feature could be programmed into the ECU or something.

The SI-Drive is actually Subaru´s answer to a question nobody asked. It´s cool on automatics like my Spec.B, where you have a comfortable cruiser which you want to be able to drive more economically smarter, more efficient but also faster and quicker when needed... but the STi is born to be driven quickly and faster than a normal Impreza. So.. why? Anyone care to explain?

I would be extremely dissapointed if that ends up being the same amount of hp that we get in the US. If those hp ratings are correct, its the nail in the coffin for me.

Mabye becuase it all sounds like alphabet soup and techincal. SI Drive, VDC, DCCD...you gotta admit it sounds advanced. THis competes with Mitsu's alphabet soup as well, although theirs is perhaps more crazy with S-AWC, ASC, ACD, AYC, and SST.

What happened to Jeremy's "You, outside, NOW!" That would've been better. Does anyoen even know what I'm referencing ?

As I said - these are JDM specs - I myself have Pure White for years - the only new color in Japan is the new blue.

Again - may have been posted in other threads but the info I am giving is official JDM data.

We are getting 28bhp more so I would imagin you will get 320 to 330ish. The torque for us only went up 0.5kg though.

They should change the gears enough to allow a 60mph trap in 2nd gear.

Only manufactures who care about that one specific element of performance would develop a car for that element.

Reaching 60mph in second gear is not a good overall goal. It is good for magazines and bragging rights, but what else is it good for? 0-60 aceleration means very little.

No Recaros? Why are there so many pictures of two versions of seats (1 recaro, 1 lame-ass)? Is one for a spec-c, s205 or other special version?
