IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | oil below 190* does not function optimally. I can't back up exactly why but many sources cite this as the optimal temp for oil. Thus the need for thermostats if you live in a colder area. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (11) | The STi comes with an engine oil cooler and a transmission oil cooler from the factory. 05's even added a steering oil cooler. No need to add these, you already have em. |

IIRC from the factory its not an oil cooler, but rather a heat exchanger. But i have been told by a LOT of people that our cars do not need them. I know a few people running T2 cars, and NONE of them have oil coolers.

| The Next Petter Solberg | The metal block we screw our oil filters into is pumped with coolant. It works well enough for most driving, but on the track I have seen the coolant slowly lose the battle. |

| Junior STI Driver | Upgrade the radiator first. Becuase when you do that you actually are in a way upgrading your oilcooler also, since your oil cools from the heat exchange method as mentioned above. |

Depending on how you look at it. An oil cooler is always a good safety percaution. But you might as well use the money on a something else that will be more useful. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad.
