IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I started my car up this afternoon, when the temp had risen to minus 5, and upon starting, I heard some ugly squealing. Not Belt squealing, but engine guts squealing. The ugly noise went away, presumably as the oil pressure rose. I checked the oil and I'm less than a half a qt down. Time passes... Go to the dealer and explain what I told you, he has me start it up and of course, there nothing. He says have a nice day. Time passes... I get off the freeway near my house, and, when I let off the gas after accelerating away from the stop sign, I hear a faint noise like a turbo bearing beginning to die. It happens every time I shift if I get on it much. If not, nothing, or it's too quiet to hear. So, any suggestions to point the tech toward on Monday when I bring it in? I know all about how hard it is to diagnose "a noise from the engine" but, given the recent low temps, are there any particular oil starvation issues that are endemic to this engine? Thanks... It was -8 here today and you could tell the car did not like it. I don't know what the othe noise would be. I'm running a turboXS short ram intake so when I let off on the gas, I hear all sorts of stuff. |
