Default Gas Additives

I was just reading Modified Magazine and they were talking about street legal gas additives. These gas additives raise your gas octane level depending on the amount used. With a bottle you can achieve up to a maximum 100 octane gas (street legal). Something like that. Does anyone use gas additives on there STI? If you live in a area with cheap gas would this be the best alternative to getting a higher level gas.

I have heard that you can use Toluene. I think you can get it at paint stores like Sherwin Williams???

I occasionally use Torco, with good results. I do not like Toluene because of the potential side effects, and it's more expensive than Torco and less effective.

Where do you usually get your torco from?
I'm shopping around a little myself right now...

We used Toluene in organic chem lab. If I knew that could be used as a gas additive, I would've swiped some.

Yea, I'm thinking there's places that sell it for cheaper though...
I know I remember seeing a case for under a hundred.

Depends on the additive, but toluene in particular slows down the combustion process. In sufficient quantity it can slow it down enough so that it's still burning on the exhaust stroke. To a point it raises octane, then it starts costing horsepower.

I buy from PDX Tuning. I would only buy through the Torco online store if I was getting the 5 gallon pail.
