Default Looking at getting a downpipe...

I have been looking into down pipes (already searched but couldnt find an answer to my specific questions). The two i have been looking at are the HKS and the Bosal. I have a few questions about each.

HKS:
How do you like the flat flange design?
How is the fitment and quality?

Bosal:
How do you like the twin dump/divorced waste gate design?
How is the fitment and quality?

How do you guys like them, any positive or negative comments about either?

Thanks for the help,
Joe

If they are still the same as they used to be, they are simply the stock DP minus cats. It still has the flat plate design which is not good for max performance.

I've been doing the same homework, as I've always ran H&S bits in the past. After much research, the Cobb w/ a cat is my first choice.

The stock DP is a flat plate design just like the HKS. How can anybody say it's no good. Subaru found it to work well enough to put on a factory car!

IMHO there may be better DP's out there but its all speculation until somebody supplies some logs or dyno plots to prove otherwise.

Correct, the Subaru engineers decided to use this design on a stock car acheiving stock power levels. They also had heavy concerns regading noise, emissions and reliabilty, which typically are overriding factors of power in an OEM application. Bellmouth and Divorced WG designs will offer better performance. I personally vote for the Cobb catted DP. You get what you pay for.

I also vote no on the HKS down pipe. get a bellmouth style downpipe.Helix makes a great downpipe for the money.

i've heard nothing but bad things about the hks downpipe. first off, the flat-flange design blocks the flow of the wastegate (fine for the stock car, but extremely bad if you're not staying stock), plus the fitment isn't that great. if you're going aftermarket on the dp you could get one from txs, cobb, helix, invidia... there's a bagillion of them out there.
