IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | im getting ready to order my perrin rotated kit to replace my PE1820 turbo Supporting mods are obviously 3 inch exhaust, stock headers, 850cc injectors, fuel pump, ecutek, blitz sbc id boost controller... etc etc the 1820 is a great street turbo etc etc BUT all the local guys in my car club are going big and its came time to do the same what i want is a car that is capable of doing mid 11's (11.5-11.6)... right now best i could get out of the 1820 was 12.2-12.3.... this car is also gonna be a daily driver... the car is down getting a stage 2 motor put int (forged pistons) right now... i want the car to be a street monster, so thats why im iffy to go wtih the 35r... but i feel maybe the .82 A/R 30R would be what i want but i dunno if it will give me the power i need what do you guys think big 30r or small 35r?.... i want as little lag as possible, but still big enough to get me the 1/4 mile numbers i want I will run alcohol injection to get the times i need please advise Adam This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I vote for the .82 A/R GT30R. I'll be ordering mine in a couple weeks There's a thread on nasioc where one made 410whp on 92 octane and 480whp on C16, that is incredible for a turbo that gives near-stock boost response. |

| Professional STI Racer | ^Sounds good. Up to you.... 35R w .82 A/R is nice as well, especially on the 2.65 liter. WI is definatley a plus with either. 30R will give you faster spool if that is what you're looking for. Times wise, they will both get you where you want to be. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | i think most will say go with the 30R for the ultimate street setup and I tend to agree. However, I bought the 35R kit as I want to eventually forge the internals, do head work, and balance the motor to spin up to 8500 RPMs. The GT35R will be perfect for that application, imo. Here she is, gone at the moment for some coating and porting at Crucial. ![]() IMG_1227.JPG |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | I would go with the GT35R, without a doubt. I've put 2000 miles on my setup and love it. lag is WAAAAYYYYY overrated. The 2.5motor has enough torque down low, and when the gt35r hits it's knarly. dont get me wrong, the gt30 is a great turbo, but go all the way if you're gonna do rotated mount. If not, go with a sz55. Either way you go, methanol is your friend, i picked up 90whp/100tq on pump/meth. good luck, let us know what you end up doing. |

With a very aggressive tune it is possible, depending on other mods. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | mmm its such a tough decision... i wanna go ahead and be badass and get the 35r if not for bragging rights alone... but a feeling inside of me tells me 30r is the right turbo for my application... i wish i could get a ride in both back to back to decide... hows the top end in the 35 vs the 30?... these cars suck on the highway so anything would help... obviously the 35 will pull better on the highway but HOW much better (how many cars would the 35 pull on the 30 car?) this would be on pump/alcohol to the guys saying a green can do those numbers... ive done the stock mount crap... and a loose turbo inlet cost me my motor... which is uncommon and my fault, but still did... i feel the stock mount setup is an inferior design to a rotated setup... |

| Professional STI Racer | RED or SZ55 are pretty insane ........... My buddy has the 35R on his STI. It feels pretty good on the highway (400whp). Streetwise, I don't care for it. Up to you on what you want the car for. |

my boss has a red on his sti, and ive been in a SZ55 car... its nice, but i wanna go rotated mount, i like the wastegate config, the dual ball bearing GT Series turbo's, and the fact that there isnt air running through a turbo inlet under the manifold etc etc.... and the cost isnt bad at all This ad is not endorsed by this member.
