I haven't found this to be any real problem. True, small leaks only tend to push water under high boost but even then a water leak is a water leak. If the system seal is breached, it's just a matter of where. But, I've yet to see a blown or pinholed headgasket that failed to push at least a little coolant, if not outright bubble, with a 100 psi leakdown test.

This young man, otoh, is spraying water all over the engine bay above 12 psi of boost. Frankly, wouldn't it be nice if all symptoms were so clear? Ehhh, who knows, maybe he just has a bad cap seal...hope so, but I don't think so.
You would think his tuner might have checked this out first though, huh? Or, gasp, put a pressure guage on the system to see if it was being pressurized.

Then again, some mechanics are more systematic in their diagnoses than others.

Really?

I've encountered quite a few in my time.
I found some headgaskets that only leaked at certain boost and engine temps, even passing leakdowns that cause the engine to rotate, even after securing the crank.

I'd really like to see what's wrong with this kid's car though. I've worked on a lot of different engine platforms, but I'm really not that experienced with this block design, semi floating sleeve.

I'm curious to know what his final solution will be.

I cleaned up this thread. The topic is excess pressure in the cooling system, people. Wander away from that topic at your peril.

Yeah, but I'm not so stupid or arrogant as to say I've "seen it all." However, with the volume of coolant this kid's motor is pushing, it just doesn't sound like a pinhole break. From the sound of it, he's having to add about a gallon of coolant every time he puts his foot in it.

Yeah anywhere from a 1/4 to a half gallon.

I hope to find the problem to soon.

I would not be driving the car until you find the source of the problem. Pay $20 a day on a cheap rental.
