I just got this part in the mail, along with the helix downpipe...can't wait to put it on!!! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| A.X.D. | the only thing i would suggest is wrapping your turbo and downpipe as i did. world of difference under the hood, and the air traveling through your intercooler will thank you in performance! ![]() p.s.: everything was purchased through Static X Motorsports Last edited by Majin; 01-08-2006 at 08:17 PM. blk04sti - the heat wrap is some type of fiberglass cloth. as SUBY2.5 said, i had to use hose clamps on both ends to tighten them down. you wet the wrap as you are applying it, (so that it gets a little looser and stretches), and after going all the way to the top you clamp it again. once it dries up, it tightens up. i then used some thermotec spray on the downpipe wrap, (increases its thermal retention to approximately 2000°F). i wrapped the hot side on the turbo with a Static X Motorsports turbo wrap kit. it uses tie wires that are nicely "stitched" through the mesh so that you can wrap it around your turbo tight. it really keeps the heat away from your intercooler - and the difference you feel is pretty crazy. in my opinion, a new downpipe shouldn't be installed without these things.
