Default TSB for 04 turbo motors for rough idle.

I hope this isn't a repost. But I saw this thread on scoobymods and nasioc.

Has anyone else seen it? I don't have any idle problems but I've seen a couple threads involving a rough idle.

i just did this today. cold idle is slightly smoother (i always watch it with my avcr since i have nothign else to do while i'm just sitting there ) and the suby vavle tick sounds alot healthier to me now. i always thought mine ticked a little loud, but it's fine now. i'd reccomend people do this, it took me literally 5 minutes, and both my filters were dropped in the hole and out of the bolt. it was def blocking the flow. make sure you look in the hole if it's not in the bolt.

I've got an '05 and I only missed this by like 500 cars according to my VIN.

CRAP! My 05's VIN is way under that changeover point. Funny, though, I always thought the rough idle was part of this car's charm

Yeh, I guess it's mainly for factory recalls.

Well I figured I had a warranty, so I would let subaru take the filters out or replace them for me. I just got a call back and they said they were fine??

I decided to make the appointment since the idle has more "hiccups" recently(maybe heat related). When I got the car you could feel the engine have a good shake once every 15 seconds(20K miles). Now it seems to be at a handful of shakes within the same 15 seconds(24K miles).

I guess I need to ask you guys is this normal for the boxer engine?? I've seen plenty of post stating the shake is normal, but mine seems to have gotten worse though it may be strictly heat related??

Thanks!

I got the receipt and it appears they may have not even looked at the filters.

It states, "CHECK WITH SCAN TOOL VARIABLE VALVE TIMING, OPERATION NORMAL AT THIS TIME".

So, it appears the filters could still be fallen in.
