I don't consider $1,000 - $2,000 expensive for a turbo, when I look at the $1,000 - $1,500 everyone wants for a FMIC, which is a much less complex device. This ad is not endorsed by this member. | STI Driver | trust me i am completely seeing the light on this one. before i owned a STi, i had a VR-4 and the upgrades for that was like 5500 (divided by two) so i understand. i was just curious. i love the deadbolts because its requires hardly any work on my part to install it, also deadbolts make me feel better as an owner, knowing that a good portion of STi owners are running them now i was just wondering though cant your local muffler shop just make you a custom downpipe to fit the turbo of your choice. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Its also the price range of the car and the people who bought them. People who bought a civic wanted something cheap and corresponding prices for it will be cheap as well. Lets take a cat-back exhaust for comparison. It could be made with the same length of pipe and the same muffler but for the civic itll be $200, for an SRT-4 itll be $300 and for an STi itll be $400. Just because people spent 12k for the civic, 22k for the SRT, and 32k for the STi. Manufacturers think that since people spent more money for the car, they have a higher price range the owner should be classified in. Corvette owners spent 50k on their car and they get charged exuberant prices for their exhausts. Those arent made with any different materials, same metal, but the owner is in the upper level price bracket. |

| Authorized Vendor | it's a lot more involved that that though - ever try getting an exhaust housing from IHI? It ain't easy - they don't like to supply them, and their prices are insane. Mitsubishi on the other hand? No problem - their housings are used across the board in every one of their turbo applications, from Evo's to trucks |
