Default Oil Weight...2nd try

Ok, I guess my first thread upset someone, so i'll try this one more time.

Anyone have any experience using a higher viscosity oil? Say a 5w40, 5w50, 10w40, etc. Basically anything heavier than the recommended 5w30. If so did you switch because you were burning oil and did it help alleviate the problem at all?

I'm only asking this cause I think, I just think (i'm not saying I know) that maybe it would be safer to run a "heavier" oil such as 10w40 or higher.

Anyone else think this or am I all alone on this one?
