IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | HI there, Good news.....I will be finally installing the Catted Helix tom. Anything that I have to know before? Any detail that I need to pay more attention to? I will be doing this alone. I am expecting 4-5 hours to finish the job. Is there like a general guideline for installing the dp, I don't wanna mess anything up. EDIT: one more thing...is wrapping of the dp recommended, too?? TAHNSK!!!!!! any input WILL BE appreciated. IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Yeah, just a good coat of some PB and tap the bolts that you spray with a wrench or something so the pb sinks in better. Other then that it is fairly straight forward. You really cant mess anything up that cant be somewhat easily fixed. The only thing you might have a problem is exhaust leeks...which is not a serious problem. Just have patience, and be prepared for everything to not go smoothly...it never does the first time. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Alright. Didn't get it installed yet. Too cold today. and got up so late. Hopefully tom. Picked up a 2.5 ton jack + 2 stands today. Thanks for all the inputs. Do you guys know anything about the heat shield and the dp wraps?? I heard that the heat shield, you can cut up the stock one. How much of it do I have to cut? and the dp wrap...I saw that xstatics is selling the wrap for like $45 or something. Is the wrapping recommended for an aftermarket dp? thanks again |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (78) | pick up an o2 socket...and maybe you should have bought ramps? i know its tight under there with just the front up, you might want to put up the rear as well... If you want to wrap your DP and plan to put it in tmrw....dont put it in, wait till you get the wrap stuff... And i just went with a cusco heatshield, but some even cut the stock one...wrapping is controversial...but it sure will lower the heat coming off the pipe... |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (78) | they can lift the car as high as you want, but i rather have it level for safety reasons, and the higher you bring up the front..the lower the back gets.. Plus i have trouble jacking the front only up due to the thin jack point, they bend and ****... what i do is drive up on stands, and jack the rear by the rear diff, and then put in 2 stands... |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | Well I just did the install today. A few pointers: Have a breaker bar handy as mentioned Gear wrenches are a life saver for a lot of those bolts Socket extensions come in handy too Drown everything in PB Blaster Just cut the stock heat shield Remove the intercooler (not very hard to do and frees up a lot of room) Have an extra set of hands Take your time It's time consuming but not too bad. You're gonna love the dp. I got the same one. Nate |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | No need to remove the intercooler. I have done several dp installs without removing the i/c. It has never been in the way or caused a problem. The three bottom bolts on the dp will be easier accessed from the bottom. Heads up. |
