Weight reduction.

Anyhow, stop what you are doing immediately!! You didn't put the downpipe gasket in because you couldn't find it? What else have you lost, deemed not required, and left out?

You are on a path for failure!! Hard love is what's needed here, so I'm giving it to you. I'm willing to bet that wherever you are working on your car, it's a pig sty!! First thing you need to do, is completely reorganize your work area. Have you ever been to the pits at a car race?? Take a look at how organized those guys are. That is what your garage should be like. Not all the fancy glamor crap, but no clutter.

Next, organize your toolbox, and hope you don't have anything missing. I assure you that if you "forget" a 3/16 socket in the intake, and it contacts a piston, the engine builder is gonna have a good chuckle if you use the word, "warranty". (How much does a stage 3 engine cost??)

Hopefully, you will then find the missing part and get it back in there. You are taking shortcuts; you may not take enough time to do it right the first time, but doing it twice is really gonna be thrilling. Then go over everything that you did, and make sure you aren't missing anything. Hopefully, you didn't deem the oil return hose lost.

Here's a suggestion...buy a gasket and install it. Don't drive the car till you do.

If the smoke goes away problem solved. If it doesn't take it to have someone look at it. Either way you should have that gasket. It costs $15.66 no big deal. Part #: 44022AA180

This ranks up there with the thread regarding the water in the IC reservoir freezing in the winter. No gasket...that's just too funny.....

White smoke can also be partially unburnt fuel.. I'm learning about all this stuff in an Automotive Technology class right now. But where is it smoking from? "the turbo" is somewhat vague.. Like where on the turbo?
