Default New Exhaust! Strange sounds/smell. Help?

Hi. I just had a Greddy EVO II cat-back exhaust installed and i think i may be experiencing a few problem, and just need some advice. The Exhaust has been on for two days now and after driving for 30 mins or more when i stop the car i can hear som sort of ping ping noise from the exhaust area? What could that be? I also get a slight plastic burning smell? I'm not sure if this is some sort of comon exhaust break-in or if something is wrong. The car seems to be running perfect and sounds great. please help.

Thanks ,

Josh

The smell is normal; it should go away after a week or so....the "ping ping" noise; i have no idea...but don't worry about the smell...enjoy on exhaust and congrats on the purchase!

Make sure the can isn't too close to the bumper - some fitments require the use of longer hangers.

Yeah, the smell is completely normal. Just some 'stuff' being burnt out of the brand new exhaust, nothing to worry about.

Not sure about the 'ping ping' sound..

Pinging sound I believe is normal. I had greddy evo exhaust on my eclipse GT and I would hear those soon after I turn off the car.

The ping-ping noise might be the sound of the metal contracting while cooling down?

Yeah my Injen TBE did the same things.. Just the metal expanding and contracting under heat/cooling. It will stop...

Ok, great Thanks for all your help. I was just worried that the ping was some sort of knock.

Thanks
