IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Does anyone know how much power it would take to peel out in the STi? The last car I had was a Mustang which could peel out relatively easily because it was RWD. AWD seems like it would take a WHOLE LOT more hp to burn out. But how much? Maybe do it this way... If you can peel out during a standing start, post your latest dyno result or a list of mods or whatever. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| A.X.D. | you could "peel out" with the car stock set the DCCD to open, keep your toes on the brake, (not too hard), heel on the gas, dump your clutch. i do it all the time, on my way to work, at the drive through, in my driveway, on my neighbor's lawn, etc. |

Seriously, peeling out is for high schoolers. It results as a loss of traction, which is never a good issue, and is why our cars do so great because they hardly ever lose traction (or at least mine doesn't). Ways to peel out: 1. Do what Majin said, but don't blame us when your transmission fails. 2. Put on some bald tires. 3. Go try peeling out in the snow. 4. Put some oil under your tires and then attempt to peel out. And I'm sure there are some others, but if peeling out is your goal, the STi really isn't the car for you.

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Wow, love the flaming. You guys sure do help make the forum stronger. If you would stop looking down your nose at everyone with a question for a minute, you might realize that I never said I even had plans to modify my drivetrain. See my sig? I'm an audio/technophile. The whole point of AWD is to NOT lose traction, everyone with the ability to know that 4 > 2 can tell you that. But when you start modding your car up to 425whp (2fas4u), you start reaching the point where your wheels cant take the power, and you end up peeling out off the line under hard acceleration. Simple enough... My question was, when does it start happening? But hey, you guys wanna talk crap about a guy for curiosity, you sure are tons of help. So if anyone ELSE might be willing to have an intelligent conversation, please speak up. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | With a larger turbo the power moves to later in the rev range...so you won't have low end "peel out" power...I was running ~400whp for a while and never peeled out. I'll let you know how it goes with ~500whp. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (14) | you formed the original question as if your goal was to "peel out." ask a noob question and you will be treated like a noob. not necessarily a bad thing but just something you need to be prepared for, especially on a (sometimes) more mature forum. |

.I watched an STi at the strip do a brief but very obvious AWD burnout just in front of the water box. No hop at all, just greasy smooth all wheel spinning goodness. It was fun to watch .And based on the time he ran, I'd guess it was stock (13.3@102). His launch was decent enough, I would have expected a high 12 if he'd had any mods. Was real quiet, too. Dave

| S204 Racer | I've done it one time trying to pull out of a parking lot with no stop light and non-stop traffic. I held it to about 5K, waited for a hole, and feathered the clutch a little and dropped it. My goal was a quick insertion into traffic, not a burn out. It did it, but I can't say I really cared for it, since it was basically out of control. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
