| Professional STI Racer | It takes power. More than stock. Adding a big stereo or car computer makes your car heavier, which increases traction which makes it even harder. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

Bump your cold pressure up to 40psi front & 38psi rear. Find a nice empty street. Rev to 4.5k-5k and do a quick slip of the clutch. As you're slipping the clutch, get on the gas to keep the revs at ~5k and once you feel the car leave the line, get right off and floor it (this ends up being one smooth quick motion.) Get ready for 2nd and watch for the rear stepping out. If you do the quick-slip correctly, you won't smell anything...except maybe some rubber. If your tires don't squeal and smoke a little from this, I'll be amazed. With this combination I left two patches of rubber about 4-5ft long on an out of the way industrial road and I'm still stock.

It comes off easily if I pick at it with my nail but just washing it won't work. I'm probably just going to pay a guy $50 to detail and remove the paint. I don't have the time.

| Spiteful Old Codger | You should have no problem breaking traction while launching on street tires. It's easy to spin the wheels launching on race tires with stock power. Actually, with a straight-on launch, the problem is more to minimize the spin than to achieve it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | It talkes torque at the rear wheels to "peel out". Torque available at the rear wheels goes down with each successive gear. A stock car can "peel" in 1st gear for a bit. A modded car can keep it going. I saw a video of an STi spinning through 3rd gear at a drag strip. i think it was the guys from Puerto Rico. Don |

| Junior STI Driver | It doesnt take all that much... Today I was coming home from work and the roads were cold (prolly about 40 degrees out) and I punched it in second at about 30 and the rear end stepped out on me entirely and the tach went straight to redline... Keep in mind, this was with the DCCD all the way to the back, stock tires that are pretty warn down, and a dry, but slick/cold road. Also, in warm conditions on a good road I have chirped second with out even trying. I am accessport stage 2 by the way. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I alway make it a point to go out in the rain, put the dccd in 50/50 lock and let the tires spin up under power(no clutch) is first and second. coming out of slow turns in a suttle drift is a kick in the ass! I have done hard launches in the dry and got all four wheels to spin but i don't like the groans from the drivetrain, that scares me. |

| Amateur STI Driver | The day I bought my bone stock 2.0 WRX, I took the sales guy for a ride in it.. Ok no smoke blowing burning rubber but..side ways none the less. In a turbo car(had 2 turbo porsches) one good key to start up horse power is spooling that bad boy up. If its not to big. Once you can get the hang of that you will notice a WOW! effect ...lol Now that I have (had... spun a bearing and putting a axis engine in) my Slowboy gt11 Sideways is a fun thing. I have race just about everything out there except a new vette. Never can get one of those guys to jump. As far as 1-2 shift.. I can at stock or anything else get a split second spin in second gear.... not a chirp, a spin... its all in the shift. keeping the spool up while hitting second. Not so good for tranny that is stock.. and if syncros are bad.. ouch! But fun if you can work it out. Will see what my new motor and kaaz gears do.... Yeah I am a red neck at heart ... tis why i got rid of my porsches....lol bonzai |
