Default Optimizing this set-up (SZ55)

I was sort of getting into this subject on the cams thread until it was locked, so I'll take it in a different direction. In the future, I plan on adding an S3L block and keeping the 20g or beefing it up to an SZ55 with methanol. Looking at the TS graph below the spool-up and curve is amazing (50/50 race/pump mix)

If a cam upgrade is added to this set-up possibly producing 500+whp set-up on methanol, on pump gas it looks as if it would be producing the same peak horsepower as a GT35R (no cams) but with much better power under the curve.

It would be nice to be able to also throw cam upgrade on a VF-39 with full exhaust, tune it and pull out 330-340whp without all the extra tricks. It was this type of possible set-up that got me thinking of what cams could possibly do while keep amazing power down low. In an effort to keep the thread calm, if anyone has any info on past or present set-up with a cam upgrade, post away. If you think its a worthless topic, don't flame it. Davenow has posted a very good example of a cam upgrade on a WRX, so whatever different set-ups you may have out there start sharing!

We should clear up

Are you talking methanol injection?
Methananol added to your fuel (if so, how much?)
Methanol AS your fuel

that is vf39 territory already.......

((i dunno about expecting much more ona built vf39 setup due to it's lack of efficiency in upper rpms...))

True. It may require a larger turbo to take advantage of that sort of upgrade.

What have you heard about the Cosworth head? I probably need to hit the search button on Nasioc.

mmm cosworth But for the money you could probably have your heads done and get most if not all the benefits cheaper.

Yeah those suckers aren't cheap, but it does look impressive.

Searching Nasioc naturally there are opionions are the polar opposite level, and they start bringing up USDM vs. JDM heads etc etc. From a cost standpoint it seems most reasonable to work with what you have and find someone who can handport the stock heads without charging anything outrageous.
