Default Sending turbo to deadbolt worth it?

Hey I was wondering if sending my stock turbo off to deadbolt to get the wastegate ported, monster ported, and get a compressor and turbine wheel upgrade worth the money and wait? I mean instead of buying a new aftermarket turbo why not keep my stock one and put like a 18 or 20G compessor wheel in it? It would probably still be a little cheaper than buy a new turbo. Also if I do go through them to get the turbo rebuilt, will I have to still get new injectors and fuel pump? And remap the ecu again?

I am interested in this as well. Perhaps one of use should email deadbolt directly?

It will have the same affect as doing it on any other car.

When I P&P'd my VF22, I was hitting 14PSI by 3000rpm and 21 by 3500rpm (this was on a 2.0l wrx)
Boost response was wildly improved. I also held 1.5 PSI more boost to redline. Well worth the work. I did a few for others and I know a couple guys that had deadbolt units, as well as a few that a buddy of mine did.

All reported the same kind of gains.

FYI you dont want to put an 18/20G wheel in the TINY housings of the VF.
If you want an 18/20G, then GET ONE. The VF series turbo's are FAR AND AWAY inferior to the mitsu units.

WHATEVER YOU DO. DO NOT LET HIM DO THE BLACK HOLE MOD TO YOUR WASTEGATE.

no.

The black hole, enlarges the wastegate hole and replaces the flapper. I have yet to ever see a turbo not make less boost when it had that done to it. I mean you can re-map it to make more again, but the fact that it lost boost on the same map indicates lost efficiency, which is a very bad thing.

The ONLY thing you want done to that wastegate is to round the leading edge off a touch. There is a BIG thread about it on NASIOC with pics.

Just have him port the wg, but not enlarge it.
