| Spec C Club | Is anyone hearing anything about cam upgrades for STIs? Or, if there is anything on the horizon that won't cost a fortune and will make good power? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| Professional STI Racer | Money well spent. Figure on about 2 grand to buy them and have them installed. Will do more for the overall performance than a "next step up" turbo upgrade. A 2.0 WRX made 300whp at 12PSI on a vf34 with cams, think about what that means a VF39 could do on a 2.5 with them.... |

| Spec C Club | I just had to ask about this. Even though the 4g63 is much different than our setup look what those cam upgrades do while keeping everything else pretty much the same. I figured it would be costly for an STi and I can't imagine its an easy install, but looking at what they can do to a WRX from Daves example (EVOS obviously have this in the bag) it seems like the missing link. I shouldn't even entertain the idea before building up the internals though.... |

I had Crower stage 2 cams in my 2.5 hybrid WRX motor. The powerband was a big wide flat table. Power from 2500 to redline. I was running 7PSI on my vf22, it pulled harder than when the car made 309whp@21PSI on the 2.0. These were non avcs cams, $890 shipped. IIRC the avcs cams are like 1400ish?? Install is in the 600-600 range. Pulling the motor wouldnt be out of the question for the install, but you can probably get them in with it in the car. | |
