He would make more on better cams. And have a thicker powerband. Gee I wonder why he cant beat the big EVO's

And dont compare that car to ANY street car that we drive.
For a street car, cams do amazing things. For a built race motor, it all depends what the motor was built to run.

Agreed. When I originally brought up this topic and mentioning the EVO (different engine/exhaust routing I know) I did it with the idea of how the STI can get its power per mod ratio higher. I would love to see a vf-39 equipped STI with cams and other supporting mods stretched to its limits (safely if thats possible) to see what its potential is.

The longterm plan for me is to add a Crawford S3L and keep the 20g (maybe an SZ55). I'd love to see how cams could optimize this setup with the already awesome powerband I've gotten used to. I'll probably know what to expect by then since it will be a while but I'm still curious to read more discussion about it. Anyone else who has more results or info chime in!

Yeah considering that power is made by getting more air/fuel charge into the cyls, more effectively, and thats what cams do, I dont understand how people dont get it.

Every other car on the planet, they do cams, they make more power. This is basic stuff. :slams head on desk in disbelief:

You know there is such a thing as "the worlds fastest Yugo" right?

That doesnt change that there are 1239879234749823749872 evo's that smoke it on a regular basis.

Just like there are EVO's that smoke his STI on a regular basis.

He is limiting his power with those cams. Period. He may know more, but smart people do dumb things all the time. I dont claim to know it all, but I do know that much.

Not to speak for him, but I don't think he was knocking the Big Valley STI. That thing is amazing (uses the same block you are I think), but it may have even more potential for power. Who knows what those guys are working on next.

Exactly.

I love how people automatically say you are crapping on something if you even remotely question something about it.
Its like this dickhead I used to work with, if you even ASKED HIM HOW HIS WIFE WAS DOING he got almost violent because you were "talking about his wife" What a douchebag

Not saying Bruce is anywhere near that, but its in the same vein.

no, they have a 2.8l (r4)

i'm taking the time to forward dave's expert commentary over to gadiel so he, like us, can benefit from dave's extraordinary genius.

Were you born this much of a douche?

Please do. So that he can come in and explain why he will not make any better power on better cams. Because there isnt a single chance in hell YOU have any idea why. You just sit and reguritate what others have done, then follow their lead like a good little sheep.

Nevermind.. Im out of this, bruce is a moron. Notice he spends so much time trying to make me look stupid, but has yet to have a single thing to back up what he is saying other than "well, this guy runs it, and he is fast(even though to the rest of the import world he isnt that fast) so he is perfect and I have not a single thought of my own"

Then lists his mods in his sig as if that means he knows a damned thing. I can make an STI that runs 10's if you give me the money too.

if you weren't so incessantly eager to show how much smarter you are than the rest of us morons, we wouldn't be having this conversation. it is just bewildering
{{slamming head on the desk because no one on the planet is as smart or insightful as dave is}}
that people don't just lower their eyes in your presense.

Again, not a single thought of your own.

All I did was disagree with what you are saying chief. You are the dickhead that starts the name calling (or insinuated namecalling) in every case thus far.

Refer to my previous post (the last one above your last in case no one comes along and tells you that). I am out. Ill come back if Gadiel comes in with an explaination of why he doesnt run bigger cams. I would actually love to know.

Again, I love how the size of your wallet has something to do with how much you know.

Typical dumb rich kid mindset. I can afford to take the cookie cutter path and throw a ton of cash at my car and make it fast. That MUST mean I know more than everyone slower than me

If I still had my 67 beetle I would come out and tear your moneypit a new ass.
