IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | I had a nipple verson on my WRX, and it worked like a charm. However, Fumoto highly recommends against the nipple for cars, so I got a regular one for my STi. It works okay, but not as clean as the nipple. Neither of them leaked. |

| S204 Racer | Don't become too obsessed with the safety ring. Granted it can do nothing but help, but I think it's intended more for off-road applications where something can come in contact with the lever (large rocks, stumps, etc). I've had mine on for about 15000 miles and have had no problems. |

| Grassroots STI Racer | I use one of those little plastic zip ties to safety-wire it - it fits right into the groove and prevents the lever from going into the open position. When I want to change the oil, I just cut it off, then put on a new one after. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Yes that is true! I really dotn see the need for it on the road. The plastic udertray really protects the valve itself and the lever is not that loose that it will just come open on it's own.... |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I had a fumoto valve on my Passat and know several people with them on their airplanes. Fumoto has never had one open unintentionally. That says alot. It is a nicely made quarter turn ball valve. Even if the locking action failed, I doubt it would open. I would get the nipple if I could. I don't know if it causes clearance issues. Thats the only reason not to get the nipple. Don p.s. there was an ad on this board at the top of my loaded page for fumoto valves. Might as well support the sponsors.
