Have you guys use the supplied gasket, or the factory crush gasket (if thats what it's called)? I'd like to install mine tomorrow.

OEM sensor replaces the stock bolt. Fumoto valve replaces the stock bolt. Guess it won't work.

the nipple version does not cause any clearance issues with anything

I used the supplied gasket with no crush ring. Some people have installed it with both, others with just the crush washer, and others with just the supplied gasket. Make sure the Fumotovalve screws in smoothly. Some people have (apparently) screwed it in at a slight angle and cross-threaded it and have ended up with leaks. Once I tightened it by hand, I used a crescent wrench to go another 1/3-1/2 turn.

watch the gasket on these things...all said and done and after having one.....it's not that big of a deal to loosen the damn drain bolt and drain the oil

i like my nippled valve because i don't have to wait for the oil to cool, i bought a rubber hose and I just drive up my ramps, connect the hose, then flip the switch and it drains into the pan. thats its main benefit in my opinion.

After you guys installed your drain valve, what position was the lever? Was it perfectly straight or was it angled?

I just installed mine, and the top was at about a 10 o'clock postion. I was afraid to crank it to much as the instructions said turn in it 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn to tighten it.

I think mine ended up around 4- or 7-o'clock, so I was lucky. If it was going to end up pointing upwards, I was planning on unscrewing it and trying again.

Just curious as to why they recommend against the nipple for the STi?

I have personally seen a Fumoto open accidentally:

Fumoto valve warning

If you don't use something to lock the lever, it could happen to you. You have been warned.
