This is a catback not an axleback. Full 3" stainless steel midpipe.

Probably no HP gain, it's not noticeable at least. There may be some increase, but it's probably only 5 HP or so.

Yeah, I'm almost embarassed about having it installed for me, but laziness is delicious I haven't noticed any hp/torque gains and didn't really expect any from this type of mod. The sound really is the key to this thing. BTW, I like the way I'm built but it sucks trying to buy clothes.

Can someone please confirm if this is a catback or axleback?

I want to get one, but have heard 2 different things someone told me is catback and someone else said is axle back only.

I thought the SPT exhaust you guys get was the same as the STi Genome (ie. just the axleback?).

Could be wrong.

The SPT brand exhaust is a catback exhaust.

SPT (Subaru Performance Tuning - Subaru's accessory company) does not make a turbo-back exhaust. They will NEVER make an exhaust that breaks any laws (Emissions). Also they won't make an exhaust that will void your warranty.

To make a long story short, SPT exhaust = Catback only

Ok in order to clear this up...

Bosal SPT - Catback, you get the muffler plus the midpipe. All 3" pipe, and the fits is perfect. Add a down pipe and you will be all set.

Genome STi - Axleback only, 2.5" pipe, no mid pipe. You can allways get a midpipe to get rid of that resonator. Even better with a downpipe you get the daddys mid pipe that goes from 3" tappered to 2.5" and it will fit perfectly with this particular catback.

Sebtarta, you have your terms confused. The SPT is catback since it includes the midpipe. Genome is axleback since it does not. Axleback goes from the axle back!

Guys, I was going to post pics and sound clips but I lent my dig camera to a friend and haven't seen it since (something about never lend stuff to friends, etc, etc). I'm going to go get it this weekend and get this done.
