most do gain ponies...and most from what i see experience minimal lag...so it's still good on the stock turbo..there's more +'s than -'s for this situation

cool thanks..also if you had EBCS you could negate the lag, right? Also, i really like that seibon cf hood..part of the reason i want a fmic

I guess I'll have to be the skeptical one. How is this possible? You said you "cooled the tmic." Did you use dry ice or something of that sort? I have seen countless stock turbo dyno sheets w/ tuners that have been in business for a long time only able to get a little over 300 hp. It just doesn't add up.

I know they have a dynopack dyno and they tend to have higher numbers than most. Doesn't mean it's wrong just reads higher than most like nhluhr said one is different than another.

well the dynopack might read higher than other dynos but that really doesn't matter since he posted what the car dyno'd bone stock (i'm assuming on the same dyno) which was 245 whp and 253 w-lb-ft that's a gain of over 80whp and over 100w-lb-ft so that seems pretty impressive

Also keep in mind that if you cool that TMIC down a lot ... you can run more timing and higher midrange boost. This equates to bigger power and torque and THAT is what gets Scott his crazy numbers on posts like this. However, with that said, I would never ever drive a car tuned like this as a daily driver. I don't think that is what Scott contends either ... but, let's hear it from the horses mouth. Completing an agressive tune on a car with an intercooler temp of like 0d and then running in stop and go traffic with intercooler temps of like 140d will do some interesting things to a car

I just got tuned by Andy xoticmotorsports. They have a Dynojet that dynoed me at 286 WHP and 310 torque. Andy said we could hit 300whp but he said the car was at 95%. I am now upgrading to a SZ49 and all associated parts. I was hoping for 350 whp. When I read this thread it blew my mind that a slightly modified STi could put down such #'s. How does the dyno pack compare to a dynojet? Is 286whp on a dynojet like 325whp on a dynopack?

it is exceptionally thick.
their fmic for the 350z tt kit is exactly as you described though, endtanks on top and bottom.

i had wondered why the evo fmic is much taller than a suby fmic, and not nearly as thick from what i recall as an aftermarket suby fmic.

Nice results and I believe your dyno numbers scotty. However, for sake of technical discussion do you agree that the stock turbo can not make more than 370 CRANK hp? I am saying this based on how much air VF39 can flow. Torque numbers make sense as we see it on WRC cars 600+ lbft and 300 crank hp max flat line from low rpm to redline... they simply can not flow more air to create more power due to the resitrictor...same applies to the stock turbo IMO.... discuss....

Cheers

I believe his numbers. I just want to know the difference between the dyno readings.

i too belive SS's numbers. he has made alot of improvements inhis tuning, and has gotten thevf39 figured out as well.

what id like to see is a ame-day-dyno of a stock sti, to help keep these escalating numbers in perspective. it just helps ot see it, guess...

i do wanna know more on the tmic used; as i did have the biggie ex-x searco unit, and felt it was nice at shedding heat. (the problem with these cinderblock sized tmic's is that they dont seal to the scoopskirt vey well at all, and oftentimes require alot of fabrication, trimming, and bending of brackets to even get them nt to rubb metal - on - metal.) i speak from experiencehere

isths new tmic the answer?? will it seal to the scoopskirt? any (-) to the (+) that you have found?

inquiring minds......

The 360.0 wlb-ft and 324.4 whp run was with 18.8 psi peak tapering to 16.1 psi at 7k. AFR's were FLAT at 10.9:1 and we were spraying room temp water on the intercooler. Lower end-tank temps at the end of the run were still 110+ degrees. The car ran more timing on the street than it did on the dyno.

This is a freak high car. I did not expect to get numbers this good out of it, but it is real.

The WRX on the dyno today made perfectly typical numbers. Within 1% of the numbers it did on a local dynpjet this past weekend. If it matter it was 3wlb-ft lower and 2 whp higher than on the dynojet.
