Default How to properly change air filter?

Sorry for the dumb question: I have heard of some STi owners who change their air filters but sometimes the filter does not sit properly. Does anybody have detailed instructions on how to properly change the OEM air filter?

Thanks!

I think some make it more difficult than it should be. It is like any other airbox I've had to change a filter in. You just have to be sure the filter is properly positioned and that you get the top cover of the airbox back in the right place. That is all there is to it, just pay attention to what you are doing.

I didn't have a problem. Just unclick the two tabs..lift up the top, slide the old one out, slip the new one in.

It's not as simple as popping the top, removing the old, and inserting the new. It should be, though.

I misinserted mine and the box still closed. I'd recommend doing swap in a well lit area and visually inspecting (as much as you can) that the filter has been seated within the box properly prior to closing the box. Then, verify that the box is closed properly...all sides.

I did mine with limited light and did not seat the filter properly. You'll know if it's not set right if you hear more noise than usual and if you feel a power gain. Since I was the only one noticing these two I had to check.

I just checked my stocker after 25K miles and it looked brand new! So I'm not replacing it anytime soon but I didn't have a problem with getting it in and out.
