IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I got my oil changed yesterday (didn't have time to do it myself and dispose of materials) so I decided to hit "The Lube Shop" here in Frederick, MD where Matt, (another member) works, and I had spoken to him in this forum, so stopped up to meet in person. Someone else changed the oil, not Matt. On my invoice, it has listed that they filled up 4.5qts, and when I woke up this morning, I checked my owner manual and it said that the motor takes around 4.2qts, I believe. Am I going to damage anything with the extra .3qt of oil? It's not enough to cause valve float or anything, is it? I know this is probably a stupid question, but I figured I'd ask, just because I'm paranoid. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! This ad is not endorsed by this member. I have taken it upon myself to contact Subaru and find out for sure what the correct recommended oil capacity is for the 2005 STi. | |

| Professional STI Driver | i change my own oil and have gone through 3 of them so far. at about 4.5 quarts with out starting the engine to fill the turbo lines & oil filter, it "appears" full. once you crank the engine a few times and let the oil flow through the engine and re-check I always have to add the last of the 5th quart. at 5.0 quarts im right at the full marker. I let my oil drain from the pan and the filter until it starts to form droplets. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (1) | I have 4.5 qts in right now with a filter and it too reads just a tad high. not bad though and nothing to be worried about. I do wonder though how Subaru could make a 300 hp 4 cyl, with variable tq setting differentinal, a trans that handles twice the out put of stock BUT can't seem to make a dipstick that reads correct half the time. Go figure... |
