Angry I failed installing my helix dp!!!! Catback is on though.

I received my invidia N1 catback back on Aug. 27 and it took about an hour and a half by myself to put on. Really easy. However today my Helix dp came in today so I left work early to put it on. After taking the tmic off and the heat shield I was ready to take off the dp. Holy sh!t man those bolts were impossible. I sprayed them with everything on this earth to help me get them off. I could only get one off and loosen another. Im no weak guy so I didnt think this would be a problem. WRONG!!! After trying an impact ratchet, breaking bar, etc. I decided to give up. I put the car back together and called a local shop and they will be putting it on for me on Tue. at $75 an hour. If it werent for bad luck id have none. I do love the sound of the invidia catback though so its not a total waist. Just thought id share my experience with you people.

Best way to remove exhaust bolts is with a $10 butane torch. Actually, you don't remove them with the torch, but heat the bolts up. Works like a charm.

Yes. There are writeups with pictures all over the web, most guys do it themselves (you need a compressor, die grinder, and a carbide cone bit...oh and your wastgate housing). Most of the work will be done since you are changing out the DP anyways...your wastegate housing is right there. Search "boost creep" here and on nasioc. Ill see if I can find the write ups for you too. Just make sure you do a little homework first. Your car will thank you for it and it will be cheaper in the long run.

^^^ yeah i don't think there is that many people porting the wastegates anymore. i think the 04's might have been a little worse to get creep than the 05's are. if you are getting some sort of engine management i wouldn't worry about porting the wastegate, em usually takes care of any creep you might get.

I am located in Waldorf, MD. I did use pb blaster on the bolts. It helped with two of the bolts. I started to round them off so I stopped messing with it before I had bigger problems to deal with. I am glad it didnt work out for me seeings I need to port my wastegate. Thanks for that useful link. I will definitely do my homework from now on even if it seems like the easiest of upgrades. Any suggestions on a good shop in the Maryland area????
