IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Okay guys I know this gets asked adnausium but I really am no futher along then I was before I did all of my searches. My question is I want to add a new turbo to my 05. I am seriously looking at the FP green but I am concerned about it not being water cooled as well as oil. I am looking for 350 WHP or a bit higher, nothing crazy. What do you all think would be a good turbo for me to look at? I don't want to do TGV deletes or any major mods. I realize I will prob have to install a wallbro and bigger injectors to do this... Thanks... Jay This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Thanks for the info. Just looked at it and that is perfect. Now the more pressing question, should I go with an external waste gate or internal. If internal do I get a choice of Boost setting on the spring when I order? Jay Last edited by 2fas4u; 08-31-2005 at 03:09 PM. |

| Professional STI Driver | is there any verification to the advantages of oil and water verse oil cooled?? i have seen none.. besides for letting your turbo cool after hard runs.. but i do that anyway with the stock turbo doesnt matter either way im going with a RED, green seems too small.. if i were you i would go with the deadbolt sz49 cos later on you could easily upgrade to different sizes.. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | I am not sure as well. Guess it is just the "puritan" in me, I feel the added cooling can not hurt. I looked at the RED but did not want to go the TGV delete route. Thanks I will look at the CZ as well.... Jay |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (11) | i read from someone else that the external wastegate is going to generate a lot more heat but you can boost higher the internal boost high enough and does not have as much heat for what he said, an external i think isn't a need. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | TGV deletes are not necessary for RED. I talked with Jeff Perrin and PDX Tuning about this and both confirmed that TGVs do not have to be removed. Also, both have been running oil cooled only turbos for quite a while with no issues and without turbo timers. I am going to go with the RED. The one that is offered by Perrin is internally gated and does not have boost creep issues since it is using new internal wastegate design. Easily good for 440WHP on race gas according to Jeff Perrin. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Thanks guys! That helps a lot, well now I am really confused with all of these choices.. Thats good news about the TGV's..I was looking at the RED but didnt want to make the big changes. As far as the EWG goes I think I will look into that then. Is it as simple as it jsut being external to the turbo? No additional connections required to plumb it then?Jay |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | There are plenty of Green's and 20G's running around out there on internals. We've done a couple with the Perrin DP's with no problem, a full bellmouth would make it even easier to control... Make sure that the boost source nipple is on the outlet of the compressor and you should have no problem. If the nipple is at the beginning of the snail they are harder to control... My present favorite setup is a 20G with a stock tmic and quiet tbe... a TXS tmic makes it even better ![]() SS |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Hey Scott thanks! I think I am going to go with the 20G. I have a spearco TMIC coming this week. So the internals will be alright then in your opinion? Jay |
