Default gt30r with stock STI tmic

around where should a gt30r with the stock sti tmic get full boost at? i really want to keep my stock tmic rather than go with a fmic. im into road course so i want a turbo with minimal lag but great top end when needed. has anyone ran this particular setup before or know anyone? any info would be great.

Depending on how high you're running the boost and how tight your set-up is, they can achieve full boost @ 3.5-4.0k with a FMIC, so I'd imagine a couple of hundred rpm lower with the stock TMIC. FWIW, however, I can't think of a single tuner that would recommend running a true Garrett GT30R without a FMIC. I certainly don't intend to, but that's just me.

You've read that the STi gets no positive air flow from the scoop above @ 100mph due to the separation of airflow off the hood, right? IOW, the scoop supposedly experiences negative air pressure and actually sucks hot air out of the engine bay through the TMIC. I can't say for certain if that's really true or not, but I'd sure do some serious research before I stuck a big blower on the car with no FMIC and road raced it. That's my $0.02.

I was interested in the same thing.

This is about the GT35 kit but they also do the GT30R kit if you ask for it. ITs not the stock TMIC but it is TMIC. I think this is the closest you will get.

good luck

you are going to get heatsoak like crazy with the stock tmic. atleast you should try to go with an aftermarket one. but if you are using the car for the track (road course, not auto-x) then having a fmic wont make a difference in lag, since you should always be in the meat of the powerband.
