Default red and tgv's

ive narrowed my next turbo down to the red... i have been searching if tgv delete is a must for fitment.. so far i came up with nothing.. one post says it definatly has to be done, while the another says no, so i emailed FP- i wrote...

does the red for a subaru sti require tgv deletes? what is the compressor inlet size? 3 inches? and is it direct bolt in? what would i need for the install? thank you..

Response-

I have seen it done both ways, and the only reason I can give for it is some people use aftermarket headers which can allow some flexibility and slight relocation of the turbo. Personally I recommend deletion of the TGV not only for fitment of larger turbos, but for the basic HP gain from removing the TGV restriction from the intake manifold. Compressor inlet is 3" so you need a Perrin intake tube, other than that it is pretty straight up.

Thanks
Robert

ok so looks like mine aree coming out...

on to the next question-- the TGV delete how to, on ScoobyMods says this process is irreversible.. the guy says he uses a hack saw to cut some things.. is this needed?
are there any other write ups on tgv deleting??

thanks

i'm pretty sure a tgv delete is required with the stock manifold.
