| Junior STI Driver | i'm in the market for a new exhaust for my 04 STi. there are many that look great, but i am very picky about the tip size (i would like a 3" tip, no bigger stainless steel of course) and also to have the tip "short" in length (the JIC spartan DE type 2 tip) and not long that comes outta the bumper (prodrive) would it be cheaper to make a custom exhaust at a muffler shop? what are some of the things i need to know to do this procedure, thanks (sorry if i made this long) ciao. Biggest thing is to make sure they have a mandrel bender (no kinks on the inside radius.) They should use stainless steel tubing, should be 3" in diameter. May want to have them install a resonator. Then you're gonna have to find a good sounding muffler, and have the tip you want welded on. You would certainly have a 1 of a kind setup, but you may have some headaches involved.
