Default stock turbo...

If I were to get a boost controller how much boost would I be able to run out of a stock turbo before I fry the bearings in it?

it will depend on the gas you're running and how you tune it.
don't turn up the boost unless you're getting a custom tune.

I run 91 or over... The car isn't stock, I just don't know what the stock turbo can handle.

You need to run 93 or over, unless your in California. The stock turbo can go up to 25psi if you are running meth or C16. If you are running 91oct I wouldn't recommend going over 20psi. The stock boost control sistem will go up to 22 psi before it maxes out the stock map sensor.

The stock turbo will be very short lived at 25psi due to the fact that shaft speed will be well over 180k rpm. 19-20psi would be a safe upper limit but opinions will obviously vary.

i just found out this guy is the owner of MY old blue sti

like turbineguy said, 20-21 is good. if you run meth, you can boost a bit more.
the stocker is strong down low, but falls on it's face after a certain RPM/mph.

we are all n00bs at one point.

what he needs to get is some tuning. i left ECUtek on that ecu, so he can take advantage of that or send the ecu to cobb and get it taken off in favor or an accessport.
it just has a stock map on it.
