Default Wow! Car and Driver mods on new WRX...

Did any of you check out the article where they modded the new WRX in Car and Driver? The K&N intake (by itself) added 20 or so wheel horsepower! The protune made all the difference. Made all the mods work perfectly together and the WRX was running sub 4.5 0-60 times and close to 13 seconds in the quarter. Wowsers! Those were dynoed numbers too on the intake HP.......

Of course it is. Read the article, it talks about how poorly those mods performed without the protune.

Thats cool. I'm pretty sure most on this site already knew that. It is a good thing if they are getting the word out though.

It was just a pretty cool article. Everything added power, but when they had all the mods on, everything went backwards, even with the Cobb AP. Cobb ended up protuning it for them and it made a huge difference. Yeah, we all know this, but this info came from a non-biased source, and I sure was surprised at the amount of power that K&N Typhoon added. Kinda fun to see our Subies in mainstream mags, and not just for a first drive, long-term follow-up, etc. Hopefully, the next article will be about a new STi with 350+ stock horsepower. Outrun someone over there in San Diego for me will ya?!?

If they had removed the cold air intake and protuned they would have gotten the same results. There has been a lot of non biased information about this since 2002.
