| Professional STI Driver | A couple months ago I posted pics of my Fujitsubo equal length header. Since installation, heat has been a problem and I even had some melted fan shroud problems! Though it was ceramic coated by swaintech, the header seemed to lose too much heat and spool was compromised, here's what I gots now ![]() - Fujitsubo stainless Equal length, lots more area under the HP curve. - Header includes flex joints so much less chance of cracking. - Swaintech ceramic coated. - EGT bung welded in. - Heat wrapped to keep even more heat in! Remember, this header is ceramic coated, NO RUST ![]() This thing is perfect now. Will entertain offers of $5000 or more! Though I would sell for this price, I damned sure no one will bite. At least I can tell the fiance I *tried* to sell it off. Some pics: Fresh ceramic, very thick coating. APS cast up-pipe was coated as well. ![]() Later I heat wrapped it: ![]() Silicon sealed: ![]() Ohh NOES! Fittment issues: ![]() Slight damage to fabric: ![]() Just in case tie added, among other since I had them: ![]() Offending bit sawed off: ![]() Final mounting! ![]() The cookie I get: This ad is not endorsed by this member. To reproduce: - Fujitsubo header $1300 (got mine used though for around $500) - Bung + welding for EGT $50 - Swaintech ceramic coating ~300 - Shipping & insurance both ways ~$100 - Gas driving to shops ~$100 (no kidding, hard to find a good place that can weld) - Exhaust wrap + extra ties etc, ~100 Total: ~$1200 to ~$2000 I really don't have a before and after log, but here is one from tonight. Please note the on-ramp was a little uphill, but I kinda rolled on the throttle a bit. Spooling to about 16 psi (3rd gear) usually happens at about 3200rpm I'd guess. Here is the said log. Note, this has a modified intake, 740 injectors, big TMIC, fuel pump etc etc etc in 3rd gear. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2008 Trader Rating: (1) | All of the ceramic companies I have contacted insisted that doing wrap on top of coating causes some serious issues. The first being extreme stress on the header itself due to too much heat retention (the same reason why you shouldn't wrap a header twice or overlap too much). The other issue that they mentioned was that the wrap has a tendency to ruin the ceramic coating pretty quickly. That being said I genuinely hope that you prove them wrong This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
