IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Yes it was. I distinctly remember a 10+ page thread where it was claimed that the 04's had forged pistons and someone had to finally tear down a block and show pictures of the pistons that showed that were clearly not forged. Even then some people were still adamant that the STi's had forged pistons...lol... I actually will not believe that the pistons are forged untill someone tears a block down and posts picks. It wont be long untill someone puts a MBC in a new 08, boosts to 25psi, gets afr's at 15:1 This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

| S204 Racer | Agreed. Within the next 90 days some unfortunate scout will play around with an open source reflash, and grenade his motor in the process - it'll get opened up and then we'll know. |

| S204 Racer | This was posted over on NASIOC this morning: "FYI: The 08 has the same pistons as the 04,05,06, and 07. The crankcase is a new issue number, but backwards compatible, so likely not a significant change. The rings however are a new part number, not listed as backwards compatible. They look the same, but perhaps have some difference in material. Everything else in the block seems to be the same. The 08 WRX has the same shortblock, so all internals are the same as well. Obviously the heads are different, but they have the same size combustion chamber (56ccs), and similar size ports. Jeff Sponaugle" |
