What tuning method did you use? AP with protune? I'll use EcuTek. What octane were you using when it blew up? Do we need to put torco on it all the time to avoid blowing up? I hope mine won't blow up

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 | it was detonation that killed it. never heard it never had any clue until i saw oil coming out of the exhaust during full throttle upshifts. i ran a lot of torco and a bit of pump gas. i dont know what map it happened on. it was tuned with an ap but the problem lies within the stock ecu. as long as the 2 extra d/a maps are turned off there is nothing to worry about. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2004 | It's suppose to act as a safety net should something get pass the oil filter. Obviously, since the '05+ don't have them, it's engineering overkill. If you are using the stock airbox/airfilter and changing your oil at the recommended interval, I wouldn't worry about it. |

I want to point out that the VIN thing is incorrect. I have a 2005 and had to replace my oil feed line because it cracked in the same place as Ultimate Lurkers. I checked my VIN and according to the TSB and mine should NOT have had a filter in place. Sure enough when I replace the line and check the bolt it is in there. My suggestion for everyone with a 2005 is to check it regardless, it really is easy to take out.

My understanding is that the banjo bolt filter is there to keep large particles that may accumulate and dislodge in the system out of the tiny oil journal in the turbo. Quote:

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007 | you need to double check your info. as stated before my 07 did not come with a turbo banjo bolt filter. |
