45k miles on the stock turbo and a few track days and autocrosses... I haven't even looked at this filter.

Would there be an increase difference in oil pressure by doing so?

Unless you're reading oil pressure from right after the banjo bolt, you most likely would not see a pressure increase if it was starting to clog. I wouldn't think a semi-clogged banjo bolt would increase pressure enough for you to see it in an oil galley.

I just pulled mine out after 35k miles. Clean as a whistle, cleaned it somemore and put it back in there.

They would have to prove that it broke due to negligence (ie not changing your oil enough) or modification to deny the warranty. Pushing 18+ psi from the stock turbo is not warranty friendly. The TSB gives you ammo to use if your car is stock and maintained if your particular dealer doesn't want to do warranty work. If that happened, best bet would be to get in touch directly with SOA.

Bringing this back again.

Do you guys think that this would be causing me to burn oil if this is clogged? In about 3000 miles I go through 2 quirts of oil. 04 STi, the motor is pure stock, has 55,xxx miles on it and has been tracked 30 ish times. When I was tracking it that often I would change the oil after every track day.

Also looking at the service bulletin it says that there are two union screw’s (banjo bolts) that have the filter in them but only indicates to do this to the ones marked C, the ones on the top.

I need some input. I think I am going to do this tomorrow morning.

You're referring to the AVCS filter TSB in the section I've bolded. For more information on that subject go here: TSB 02-97-05 Rough idle on 04 Turbo motors (2.5L) - ScoobyMods

Here is the TSB for the turbo oil feed filter: http://www.thel7.com/TSB/02-103-07.pdf

This filter is located within the banjo bolt that connects the turbo oil feed line to the back of the right bank on the engine block.

The possibility that a clogged turbo feed line is causing consumption is pretty slim. The turbo feed is low pressure. That doesn't mean you couldn't have a blown seals on your turbo but there would be other symptoms to point to this.

Boxer engines are known to consume oil. Especially when certain synthetics are used. I suggest you look elsewhere first.

There is a lot of misinformation and incorrect references/citations in this thread. it would be nice if a mod could clean it up to eliminate a lot of the confusion that is going on.

Ok so I went back and re read it slowly and then backwards. I did miss some thing, I now know what I need to take off.

I will let you know how it goes and if it helps at all with the oil consumption.
