I would be really interested in a "how to" as well for this. A page or so back a guy stated this job took him a few hours to complete, while others are stating it takes 10 minutes.

Alright i took mine out of my 04 sti about 6 months ago theni went to do it on a friends 06 and found no filter. This procedure took me about 25 minutes from start to finished with pulling out my tools and all.

Thanks for the positive feedback!
The old bolt filter screen didn't look too bad. I've been changing my oil at every 3,500 miles for a couple of years now. I went a number of years where I changed it every 5,000 miles. After about 10,000 miles I started using synthetic oil only.
My car had about 30,000 miles on it when I replaced the bolt/screen.

I think I will do this sometime this summer, as my car is nearing 30,000 miles as well.
